What is BECE Examination?
According to Wikipedia ↱; The Basic Education Certificate Examination is the main examination to qualify students for admission into secondary and vocational schools in Ghana, and Nigeria. It is written after three years of junior secondary education. It is administered by the Ghana Education Service under the Ministry of Education.
About Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) ↱
The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is taken by candidates in the final year of Basic school.
The new and improved registration process is done on the BECE online platform or the Registration Application and there is no biometrics capture, unlike the previous years.
The BECE application is a suite of software that enables schools(centres) to register their candidates, make payment, and manage their candidates’ information for the Online Examination.
The minimum number of candidates to be registered by a school for exam is twenty (20). Any centre registering less than 20 candidates is deemed unviable.
Eighteen subjects are administered at the BECE level. A candidate is expected to sit for a maximum of eleven subjects. A candidate is deemed to have passed the BECE if he/she has passes in six subjects including English and Mathematics.
70-79, is grade 3, a B+ and is described as HIGH. 60 -69 is grade 4, GRADE B, described as HIGH AVERAGE. 55 – 60 is GRADE C+, classified as 5 and described as AVERAGE.
There is no cut-off point for BECE, Per the new system put in place by the Ghana Education Service, Previously, it was an aggregate of 25. Although the results released each year are graded from 1 to 9 per subject, the school placement is done using the candidate’s raw score
How do I check my BECE grade?
- Login to the New result-checking portal at https://result.neco.gov.ng/ ↱. This second link is old and can’t be used http://www.mynecoexams.com/results/default.aspx ↱
- Select BECE i.e JSCE in the Examination type box
- Select the Exam year i.e 2022
- Enter your PIN from the scratch card you purchased
- Enter your Exam number
- Click on “Check my Result”
