What is the maximum number of AdSense ad units I can put on a page? This is the question I will answer in today Google Adsense guide.
It’s always a best practice to use a minimum number of ad units on a page and running them on the placements with high viewability.
Google AdSense offers different types of ads and most are categorized in the following formats:
- AdSense Content Unit
- AdSense Link Unit
- AdSense For Search
It is very important to follow AdSense’s quality and program guidelines in order to avoid having your AdSense account banned.
Apart from there quality and Program guidelines, AdSense has a very strictly enforced program policies.
Let’s take a closer look at this policy.
Old Google Adsense Ad Limit Policy Section
On each page AdSense publishers may place:
- Up to three AdSense for content units
- Up to three link units
- Up to two search boxes.
New Google Adsense Ad Limit Policy Section
Publishers can now place:
- More than three AdSense for content ad units on a given page.
- More than three Link ad units on a single page.
- More than one large ad unit per page.
Google has lifted the limit restrictions. Good news for you and I, now we have freedom to place unlimited ads on a page but this freedom comes with a set back.
Now back to the Ultimate question…
HOW MANY ADSENSE AD Units SHOULD YOU HAVE PER PAGE?
As long as your ads do not exceed your content, there is no limit on the number of ads on a single page.
Yeah, I know by now you are thinking of placing 5-6 ads already on one page but remember you also need to maintain the quality of your site.
So I suggest you keep less than 5 ads per page.
I usually stick to 3 or 4. But you should identify your own limit according to your blog’s layout.
There are many different options available for the placement of ads. Here on speedyminds placing ads above the fold has yield better results and also combination of image + text ads performs even better.
Flooding your page with ads will not help increase your ad revenue but most likely results in lower CPMs and CTRs.
It’s better to keep your ad inventory valuable and optimize your existing ad placements instead of introducing more ad units. This way, you can discover new best-performing ad formats and maximize your ad revenue through them. This is still the most effective way to increase your ad revenue.
